Maintenance
The present owners are the fifth in line to care for this vessel since its launching over 73 years
ago. To quote from her most recent insurance survey of 2009:
"This is a classic mahogany planked racer/cruiser built to a Phillip Rhodes design by a well known West Coast yard. It is beautifully finished above and below decks with many recent custom upgrades and enjoys a meticulous maintenance program.
Starting in 1991, the vessel underwent a 23 month extensive rebuild and upgrade: several planks were replaced. All frames were checked and sistered where appropriate. All deck beams were reconstructed; the transom was strengthened and new deck, cockpit and cabin tops and corner posts were installed.
Below decks, a new engine was installed on new engine beds with a new exhaust system, and fuel tanks were renewed. A new galley and quarter berth was installed along with several strengthening bulk heads fore and aft.
New stainless steel standing rigging was installed with modified and strengthened chain plates, new
stainless steel mast tangs and Sta-Lok terminals.
All new stainless steel pulpit, pushpit and stanchions were installed along with proper anchoring
fairleads for a dual anchoring system. The electrical system was redesigned and rewired.
More recently, the mast was rebuilt and rewired, a new rudder was fitted on new pintles and gudgeons, and the deck and cabin top fibreglass was refurbished, non skid and painted. Below deck, a new salon table was fitted ”.
In the summer of 2012, 4 large through hulls were replaced and the exhaust system upgraded along
with the installation of a new more robust transmission for the engine and a new stainless steel propeller shaft with cutlass bearing.
The 2 year refit referred to in the attached survey was thoroughly documented and photographed and these pictures, along with professional surveys since that time, are available for scrutiny.
